Michael Q. Berkley was born in Atlanta, and grew up in Athens, Georgia, and Etowah, North Carolina.  Upon graduation from high school, he worked at Wilsonart in Fletcher, North Carolina, for a number of years.  While employed with Wilsonart, he began his college career, first at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Institute, and then completing his undergraduate studies in Political Science at the University of North Carolina – Asheville, obtaining his B.A. With Distinction.  He then obtained his juris doctor at Wake Forest University School of Law.  He was a member of the Wake Forest Law Review, and a Notes & Comments Editor.  He had his Note, “What You Don’t Know Can Kill You: The Rehnquist Court’s Allowance of Unforeseeable Victim Impact Evidence in the Era of Disposable Precedent: Payne v. Tennessee”, published in the Fall 1992 Wake Forest Law Review.  He is admitted to the Orange County Bar Association, and is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Mr. Berkley’s practice is focused in the area of medical malpractice litigation, defending physicians, hospitals, surgery centers, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers in personal injury and wrongful death actions.
