SUSAN M. WILSON
Ms. Wilson received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Tampa in 1988 and worked as a Registered Nurse in clinical and administrative settings for 17 years. She received a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1998, after which she initially practiced health care transactional law, including health care fraud and abuse, compliance, contracting, and peer review for hospital clients.
In 2002, Ms. Wilson began working in the areas of medical malpractice defense, premises liability for hospitals, and licensure defense for health care practitioners. Her initial experience included wrongful death cases, obstetrical injuries, retained surgical sponges, maternal deaths, wrong site surgeries, neurological injuries, amputations, pharmacy errors, and anesthesia mishaps. She participated in trials involving brain damaged newborns, retained surgical sponges, surgical complications, sepsis syndrome, and anesthesia complications.
Her practice eventually expanded to defending clients in commercial catastrophic (large value) personal injury and wrongful death cases, including vehicle accidents of all types (autos, commercial trucks, cement mixers, dump trucks), road construction and work zone traffic accidents, traumatic brain injury cases, dram shop cases, slip/trip and fall, and negligent security, as well as continuing her work in the defense of health care providers in medical negligence cases involving severe injuries and death.
