Janet A. Durkee

Janet Durkee was born and raised in Queens, New York and moved to Florida as a young adult. She earned an Associates of Science degree in Nursing from what was formerly St. Petersburg Junior College and worked in the Tampa Bay area as a hospital bedside nurse working in cardiac, progressive intensive care, and the post anesthesia care units throughout her career and also worked as an office-based RN for a large cardiology practice in Bradenton, Florida. After earning her BSN from St. Petersburg College, she attended Stetson Law School while continuing to work as a hospital nurse to support her family.

As a nurse attorney, a dually-licensed professional, Janet is happiest defending hospitals, nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in professional liability medical malpractice litigation including wrongful death. She briefly worked at a prominent Plaintiff’s firm, but missed the challenges and complexities of defense litigation.
