Kevin T. O’Hara is a native Floridian, born in Winter Park, Florida. He attended Stetson University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Mr. O’Hara graduated from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University with a Juris Doctorate in 1986, and an LL.M in Health Law in 2020. He was a writing member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy at Cumberland and an American Jurisprudence Book Award winner. He was a finalist in the Haley Federal Mock Trial Competition as well as the Jefferson County Mock Trial Competition. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1986.
He primarily practices in the areas of medical malpractice in defense of all types of healthcare providers and facilities as well as general civil trial law. He is licensed to practice in all Florida State Courts, The United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. O’Hara has received the distinction of being recognized as a Board-Certified Civil Trial Lawyer by The Florida Bar. A distinction held by less than one percent of all Florida lawyers. He lectures and presents programs of all kinds to assist healthcare providers in quality assurance matters of all types, presentation of medical evidence and trial testimony as well as other key components to obtain a fair trial in civil matters. He has also been called on to address lawyer’s groups on jury selection, trial evidence and cross examination of medical witnesses. He has been asked to speak to groups at The Florida Anesthesia Association-FSA Conference, Holmes Regional Medical Center, Cape Canaveral Hospital, Wuesthoff Memorial Hospital, Florida Physician Insurance Company, Brevard Emergency Services, Brevard Physician Associates, Osler Medical, Omni Medical, Munroe Medical Center and Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Mr. O’Hara has been AV Peer Review rated (top rating) by Martindale Hubbell for more than 21 years. He is a member of the Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar, the Orange County Bar Association as well as the Florida Defense Lawyers Association.
Mr. O’Hara met his wife Shellie in law school, and they have one son Patrick. Kevin enjoys teaching Sunday School, restoring classic cars, amateur autocross sportscar racing, as well as camping and boating.
